Asbestos Surveys

  • Asbestos Survey - Management

    Individual Sampling

Asbestos Management Surveys have replaced what used to be known as Type 1 and Type 2 Asbestos Surveys. Type 1 asbestos surveys were simply presumptive surveys - everything apart from glass, wood, metal, etc would be presumed to contain asbestos. Type 2 asbestos surveys took Type 1 surveys a stage further by samples being taken of suspect materials to confirm or refute the presence of asbestos. Upon the release of HSG264 by the HSE, asbestos management surveys replaced Type 1 and Type 2 asbestos surveys. The new survey closely resembles the old Type 2 asbestos survey, whereby samples are taken to determine all asbestos materials that are readily accessible and assess the risk. The resulting survey report can then be used to form the asbestos management plan for your property, ensuring full compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

It is a legal requirement for all non-residential properties to have an asbestos management plan in place in order to protect the health of workers undertaking maintenance on the property. This has been the case since 2004 - if you still do not have one for your premises, contact us on 0800 061 2597 now.

You may also require an asbestos management survey prior to the lease or sale of a property. DJ Surveying are experienced in undertaking asbestos surveys of all types of buildings, from residential to commercial and industrial. Contact us today for your free quotation.

  • Asbestos Survey - Refurbishment & Demolition

    Asbestos Management Survey

Type 3 Asbestos Surveys were replaced by Asbestos Demolition/Refurbishment Surveys upon the release of HSG264.

As part of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015, (CDM Regulations), Asbestos Demolition/Refurbishment Surveys are required prior to all major refurbishment or demolition work to all non-residential buildings. This type of asbestos survey may involve destructive inspection in order to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach, e.g. wall cavities, floor voids, etc. Precise areas of sampling will be discussed with the client beforehand wherever possible, to ensure minimum disruption

The main aim of an Asbestos Demoltion/Refurbishment Survey is to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMs (asbestos-containing materials) in the building. Asbestos materials may then be removed prior to other works beginning or the design amended accordingly to ensure no asbestos is disturbed. This protects the health of builders and demolition workers working on your site, and ensures you remain legally compliant.

By contacting us at the design stage of your building project, we can ensure that your contractor will be fully aware of all asbestos materials within your building before work begins, ensuring no asbestos materials are unwittingly disturbed by yourself or your contractors.
